While 2021 wasn’t quite the height of the Covid pandemic, its effects were still lingering. I was back to commuting, but my habit of drawing on the bus had suffered. The usual rhythm of sketching fellow passengers had been disrupted, leaving a noticeable gap in my practice. As a result, most of my drawings from this period turned inward—self-portraits, or studies based on screen-based reference, filling the space where live observation had once been.
