These sketchbook pages, shared on Instagram in 2022, capture a more unfiltered side of my process—some even photographed mid-journey on the bus. It’s only in hindsight that I recognise how much my practice has shifted, with Procreate becoming an integral tool for both creating and refining my work. As a result, traditional sketchbooks, in their raw, untouched state, now make up only a small fraction of what I produce. Maybe it’s time to redress that balance.
A foray into exaggerated proportions—big heads, oversized hands, and distorted forms. By overlapping and repeating elements, I aimed to capture a sense of movement and the passing of time. This approach is particularly suited to digital work, where layers and adjustments allow for a sort of modular approach to drawing, crafting a portrait 'bit by bit'.
A continued exploration of combining analogue drawing with digital colour, but this time with a shift towards more natural proportions and anatomical accuracy. While the above work played with exaggeration and distortion, these pieces lean into a more measured, observational approach.
