Previsit organisation
The eve of my first hospital drawing visit ("hospital visit" sounds wrong. Like I've got leukemia) and it's time to make some choices with regard to kit. Over the last few months I've been exploring different drawing surfaces / papers. Looking for something that encourages and supports faster, looser and more gestural mark making with the Lamy fountain pen. The small, black pocket book in the image is a Moleskine pocket book and was the first suitable paper that I found. Though it's very thin. The book directly above it is also moleskine and the same stock. The blue book is a Leuchtturm1917 blank notebook and is made from a very similar stock. The pink Leuchtturm1917 above is my normal 180gsm sketchbook. The Muji to the right is probably going to fall by the way side very quickly and I might even opt out of taking it.
My Lamies are pictured getting an over night soak in preparation. The bag contains all of the medium nibs that I've removed, replaced and never used, over the years. I'm thinking that the new stock might work well with the mediums and I'm going to see what, differences in line weight and aesthetic, if any, the mediums bring. To the left is my old faithful pen case and beneath it is the Etchr pen case that I've been provided to trial over the course of the project. As it's smaller it'll help me simplify and streamline my choices - after all, I rarely use 90% of the kit that I carry, so why carry it? Etchr have also supplied me with their satchel/art case which functions as bag, work station and easel. I'll also be trying that out for my location drawing. |
