PHIL DEAN

Another of my instagram follows, Phil's work falls under the urban-sketch umbrella and he mainly focusses on buildings - enough to make me think that he might be an architect.
I've often conversed with Phil on instagram and we seem to share a mutual appreciation of each other's work. In the case of this project, I struggled (massively) with a l-o-n-g period of artist's block and one of the things I tried to do, in the hope that it would help was immerse myself in the work of others - Phil, being one of those 'others'. I would say that Phil's line-work is simple yet manages to be very specific and identifiably his and manages to be at once both playful and precise. He has an amazing eye for simplifying complex viewpoints and subjects. |
