Swasky is a Spanish 'urban sketcher' who, via instagram, I've been a fan of for some time. I'm drawn to the energy and flow evident in his mark making and line. Mixed media is a large part of his aesthetic and again, offers an energetic and 'on the spot' aspect.
I enjoy the photographing of work as it takes shape live out in the world and believe that the images are all the better for it. The worn drawing board that speaks of hard earned experience, the inclusion of implemented tools, an out of focus glimpse of the scene in front of the artist - they all help to put us not only a position of appreciating the work but also of understanding the difficulties and challenges of creating it. We are viewing and evaluating not only the work but also the situation and process that created it.
